Privacy Architecture

All session data is stored on AES-256 encrypted servers. Business Associate Agreements (BAA) executed with every vendor in our stack.
Your participation is never shared with your employer. EAP claims are submitted under a third-party administrator with no identifying detail.
We do not sell, license, or share your health data with advertisers, data brokers, or research institutions without explicit written consent.
Provider notes are scoped to treatment-relevant information only. You may request, amend, or restrict your records at any time under HIPAA Right of Access.
Non-clinical data (session metadata, communications) can be deleted on request. Clinical records are retained per state law minimums, then purged.
"Send This Plan" links are one-time-use and expire after 24 hours. No persistent tracking pixel or session cookie is attached.
Crisis Protocol
Every provider on the Sober platform is trained in crisis de-escalation and follows a documented escalation protocol. Here is exactly what happens if a session becomes a crisis.
Active suicidal ideation with plan
Provider immediately calls 988 Lifeline with client on call. Emergency services dispatched if client consents or is at imminent risk.
EmergencyOverdose in progress or just occurred
Provider directs client to call 911 immediately. Session paused. Provider remains on call until emergency services confirm arrival.
EmergencyAcute relapse after period of sobriety
Same-day crisis session available within 2 hours. Provider escalates to IOP referral if pattern indicates stepped care.
UrgentWithdrawal symptoms requiring medical management
Provider coordinates same-day telehealth with prescribing physician for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) evaluation.
UrgentEmotional crisis without immediate physical risk
Extended session available within 4 hours. Structured safety plan created and shared with provider of record.
